Hi everyone! It's been a while, I know, since I have added anything to this site. I have spent some time uploading photos of all my cards to the computer and will share some on a regular basis. I would also love to do some more Stampin' Up workshops for anyone who wants to host one! I will be starting up my home workshops again, starting in September, once the new catalogue comes out. So excited! There are so many new things to show everyone - the Bigshot, the new style of punches and stamp sets, lots of new colours (as they have totally revamped their colour families!) and designer papers - to name just a handful of things! I will let you all know details as soon as I work them out!

The first thing I want to share with you are the journal covers I've been working on for a while now. Two different designs. Hope you like them. When someone decides to buy one, I stamp the letters of their names, cut round them into small squares, daub around the edges and affix them to the front of the journal using dimensionals. I have such fun playing with designer papers, coordinating cardstock, embellishments, punches (especially the new bird punch - so love it!) and other embellishments. Let me know what you think.

Thanks! Have a great day!

My Hero

Here is another poem from my book - an equal favourite along with My Shelter. It's self-explanatory, I hope it will touch others. My son and many of the primary school children I taught have a copy of this particular poem, citing it a favourite. One girl bought a bookmark with the poem printed on it for her aunt to help her make a decision to become a christian. Touching.

At right is what my book looks like. The cover design was done by an artist friend, Julie, and I thnk she did an amazing job. If any of you out there are interested in acquiring a copy of my book for yourself (or as a gift to someone else) just drop me a line and I will see about getting a copy to you.

My Hero

My hero doesn't wear a cape

And o'er tall buildings soar

He doesn't use his x-ray vision

To see beneath the floor

But he does wear a flowing robe

And sits upon His throne

He sees within this heart of mine

And examines how I've grown

My hero doesn't fight his foes

With brutal muscles powering

He doesn't slay the monstrous dragon

Outside the dungeon cowering

But he does help me overcome

All adversity in my life

With the strength and power of His love

Especially when doubt is rife

My hero is the Son of God

Who died upon a cross

For me He shed his precious blood

My gain, at such a cost

I doubt that I could give my life

For another human soul

But that was God's intention

Hs ulitmate redeeming goal

So let us look with grateful eyes

Upon the cross today

And give our lives to Jesus Christ

And trust Him to lead the way

Luke Turns 21!

My son, Luke, turned 21 earlier this month (aug). I am continually amazed at how quickly time flies ( I must be having fun!). Luke didn't want a big party like he had for his 18th, so we celebrated with a special dinner and a scrumptious cake. We wish him every good wish for future success with girlfriend, Sian, his work and his life. He is a wonderful son and I love him with every fibre of my being. HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY LUKE!

Handmade Cards

One of my favourite hobbies is making cards which I have been doing for more than twenty years now. I put some classical music on the stereo (or country music on my ipod!), cover the table with stamps, card of all colours, markers, ribbon, buttons - you get the idea -and I let inspiration take over. I have recently taken photos of my cards and decided to share some of them here. I have not bought a card since I started making my own and was recently shocked at the price of cards here in Australia while checking the valentine cards for my son. The thing I like about making my own cards is that I can make them personal, and know that they will not get another card like mine!

I make the Thinking of You card using Stampin' Up card, stamps, markers and embellishments. The second card uses Stampin' Up materials plus a stamp I bought while travelling in America in 2004. It says: what lies before us and what lies behind us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us

Another Favourite

I want to share with you another one of my favourite poems.
In the Midst of My Need
In your Word, true and faithful
You have decreed
That You'll always be near
In the midst of my need.
To comfort, to guide,
To respond when I plead
You answer me softly
In the midst of my need.
When I'm angry, impatient
You plant a love seed
And sit right beside me
In the midst of my need.
When I'm battered and sore
And my wounds seep and bleed
You heal my pain
In the midst of my need.
When I'm feeling unworthy
You take the lead
And fill me with grace
In the midst of my need.
You care and you love me
My spirit you feed
I'm so grateful you're close
In the midst of my need.

Poetry with a Purpose

In 2000 I began writing poetry to help me through a difficult time in my life. This turned into a book called 'Prayers from a Healing Heart' which I self-published in 2005. Here is a favourite from the book, written at 2.30 in the morning after tossing and turning for four hours!

My Shelter
My tears, like rain, unceasingly fall
They're battering down the retaining wall
Washing away all guilt and pain
So that I could start living freely again
When will it stop? I feel so weak
When will my soul have the peace I seek?
I look to the heavens and seek Your face
You're my shelter, O Lord, in a stormy place
The waters are rising, I fear I'll be drowned
As the waves all around me continually pound
My body is tired, my limbs so sore
I'm literally drained, I can't fight anymore
When I find the world has no answers for me
No remedy or cure that can set me free
On my knees in prayer I'm filled with grace
You're my shelter, O Lord, in a stormy place
I have faith that the sun will shine one day
And brighten the sadness and pain away
The birds will sing and the flowers will bloom
A new beginning will replace the gloom
Until that day when my soul is healed
And my love and Yours are eternally sealed
I'll place my life on a biblical base
You're my shelter, O Lord, in a stormy place
